Challenging behaviours, that is difficult to manage. Do you have a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who engages in challenging behaviours? If so, come join our team at Tri-County Community Support Services as we discuss the role of four functions of behaviour that trigger challenging behaviours, strategies on how to handle challenging behaviours, and how to decrease challenging behaviours. After our first workshop with caregivers, there is the opportunity to have a follow-up individual session with one of our Clinical Supervisors and BCBAs.

Understanding ASD (for teens with ASD)

October 27, 2020   7:00pm-8:00pm

Autism Spectrum Disorder, ASD, Asperger’s – some of the terms that an individual who has the diagnosis might hear. But, what does it really mean? How could a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder affect an individual’s everyday life? This workshop is specifically designed to help those over the age of 10, with the diagnosis of ASD understand what it could mean for their daily functioning (i.e., social skills, communication, motor skills, executive functioning). It’s important to understand that no individual experiences Autism Spectrum Disorder in the exact same way, as such this workshop covers the possible impacts of the diagnosis. The workshop will include videos, discussions, and teaching through PowerPoint.

Requirements: 10+ with a knowledge of their Autism Diagnosis.

Tech Requirements: Must have the ability to connect to Zoom (Computer or handheld devices, such as a tablet or cellphone).

Social Narratives

October 29, 2020   3:00pm-4:00pm

This workshop is for parents and caregivers and reviews what is a social story, and how they can be used for your child with Autism.  This workshop will provide you with the tools to create your own social story, as well as review what makes a good social story.  We will share a variety of examples of social stories, as well as online resources that you can use.

Tech Requirements: Must have the ability to connect to Zoom (Computer or handheld devices, such as a tablet or cellphone).

Virtual ABA Service – Welcome Package

With the COVID-19 Pandemic, TCCSS is broadening our services to better support our individuals, their families and the community. Click here for the Virtual ABA Service – Welcome Package.

Tri-County Community Support Services (TCCSS) has been a regional provider of autism services in Northumberland, Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes, and Haliburton since 1999.

As a result of changes to the Ontario Autism Program (OAP), TCCSS is now offering a range of fee-for-service options so that children and families continue to have access to high-quality behavioural services in their communities. Effective April 1, 2019, families can use OAP Childhood Budgets/Interim One-Time Funding, their own funds, or other funding sources, to purchase the services they value most from the provider of their choice. TCCSS will continue to offer these fee-for-service options until the Ministry rolls out the new needs-based autism program some time in 2021.

Children who currently have a behaviour plan will continue to receive services outlined in the plan until its end date. At that point behaviour plans can then be extended with no gap in service up to their current level of intensity, or less where clinically appropriate, until families transition into core services in the new needs-based autism program.

While our service model has changed, TCCSS remains committed to providing services and supports aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being of children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families.
