Behavioural Consultation Services (BCS)

Description of Service

Behavioural Consultation Services provides the following:

  • Assessment of adaptive skills and functional assessment of behaviour
  • Assistance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of treatment plans and strategies based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis
  • Caregiver training in the use of behavioural strategies in the individual’s natural system of supports
  • Group instruction, workshops, and training in crisis prevention and treatment intervention strategies

Eligibility

Behavioural Consultation Services provides service to:

  • Children aged 2-12 with intellectual/developmental delays or exceptional behavioural difficulties
  • Youth aged 13-17 with intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • Adults 18 and over with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (Developmental Services Ontario determines eligibility for Adult Services)
  • Applicants that reside in the counties of Haliburton, Northumberland, Peterborough, and City of Kawartha Lakes.

How to Apply

Referrals for Behavioural Consultation Services are accepted from Parents or Caregivers by the following:

  • For children and youth with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, please call the Four Counties ABA Collaborative Central Intake line at 1-888-454-6275
  • For all other referrals for children and youth, please call the BCS Referral line at 705-876-9245 x200 or toll free at 1-888-616-3456 x200
  • For adults 18 and over, please contact Developmental Services Ontario at 1-855-277-2121 to request service.  BCS can only accept referrals for service for adults from Developmental Services Ontario.
