Adult Protective Services (APS)
Description of Service
Adult Protective Services provides case management and advocacy support to adults who are developmentally disabled. The goal of the program is to assist adults with developmental disabilities who are living on their own in the community without significant and/or appropriate supports to live as independently and safely as possible.
Eligibility
Individuals are eligible for the Adult Protective Services program if:
- They are aged 18 or over (Note: there is no upper age limit).
- They are developmentally disabled as defined by the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, 2008.
- They live on their own in the community.
- They live within the Tri-County area (City of Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton County, and Peterborough County).
